I provide diagnostic pathology service for the Emergency Hospital Targu-Mures Romania at the Department of Pathology as well as for the Histopat-Invest laboratory Targu-Mures, Romania.

I am a lecturer and course director of continuing education courses on gynecologic and breast pathology offered by national (EUROGYNPATH) and international (ESP, CAP, IAP, IGCS, ASCP, SLAP) organizations. I work as part of Project ECHO, a joint educational venture of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and the International Society of Gynecologic Pathologists serving as a pathology mentor through remote sessions with cancer centres in Caribbean Countries.

focuses on 1. cervical pathology and 2. breast pathology. Romania has the highest incidence and mortality related to cervical cancer in Europe, so my main interest is related to cervical pathology. Recently, together with colleagues from Romania as well as other countries from Europe and other continents, I have worked toward improving the screening program and the diagnosis and management of cervical cancer. Also, we have worked on the traditional histologic classification scheme of adenocarcinoma of the cervix pushing toward a new classification linked to aetiology (HPV infection) which has a clinical impact providing a robust framework for the development of tailored cancer treatments for patients with endocervical cancer.
We are currently working on the molecular characterisation of the different histologic types of adenocarcinoma of the cervix as well as identifying new markers related to different patterns of invasion.
Also, revisiting the classification of adenocarcinomas of the vulva and vagina as well as squamous carcinoma of the cervix are also interesting research topics.
Prognostic and predictive factors in breast carcinoma is another main field of interest as Romania has a high incidence and mortality due to breast cancer in Europe. Morphologic and molecular heterogeneity in the primary tumor foci and axillary lymph node metastases, morphologic evaluation of the axilla were major topics of investigation within recent years.
